A married girl was brought to me for
irregular periods, headache, anxiety, palpitation and tremor. She was
emaciated and thin. She was not able to conceive even though her husband's
seminal analysis was perfectly all right. Investigations revealed thyroid
enlargement with features of hyperthyroidism. Her TSH level was 1.563
ulu/ml. After taking treatment she slowing became better with her complaints
and gained weight. She stated of menstruating normally. After establishing
two successful periods her periods disappeared and made them worried.
Her mother took her for second opinion where the gynaecologist prescribed
some hormone tablets for withdrawal of bleeding. After consultation
before taking the medicine she approached me for my suggestion. I observed
her symptoms and was little confused then I asked her to test her urine
for pregnancy test. Surprisingly the result showed POSITIVE. They went
to another gynaecologist to confirm the result once again. No change
in the results. The ultra sonogram result also revealed foetus of twelve
weeks gestational age.
